How To Recover a Deleted Gmail Account
If you think your account may be deleted and it has been a while, there are a few steps that need to be taken so you can ensure access to Gmail, Google Play, etc. Contact the customer care team at 1-800-555-5520 or email them and explain what’s happening. They will give you steps to take for identity verification purposes.
In order to get your password back, you need two pieces of information: the old email and an alternate email or cell phone number. Without either one of these pieces of information, your former account will be deleted.
If you have multiple accounts in Google Apps and want to permanently delete one of them, follow these steps:
Visit https://admin.google.com/a/yourdomainname. Click Remove user data > Delete User Account (the link is located in the box on the right). The email address will be deleted from all users’ Gmail Accounts within 30 days, though it may take up to a week to be deleted in all users’ Gmail.
You can remove an account address (and any related aliases) in Gmail by visiting https://mail.google.com/a, clicking Settings > Accounts > [click on an account] > Delete this address and choose to Submit. External mail systems such as Exchange Server or Outlook may require you to update your transport rules to stop sending messages to the deleted address. If you are unable to remove an old email account after 30 days of deletion, contact your helpdesk for assistance with your mail delivery.
Note: You can’t delete an account address if it’s been forwarded to another account or if it’s a forwarding address for more than one account. Please do not add any other addresses as forwarders before deleting the original email address, unless you want those addresses to be deleted along with your old account.
If you no longer wish to receive e-mail announcements from Google, simply click Unsubscribe at the bottom of the message. For instructions on unsubscribing from all mailings please visit http://www.google.com/support/mail/bin/topic.py?hl=en&topic=27969. If there is no Unsubscribe link at the bottom of a message, please contact [email protected].
If you need to forward your emails, please contact [email protected]. We’ll remove your address from any public “Whois” lists and can have email forwarding enabled for the remainder of the 30 day period, allowing you enough time to set up an alternative solution. Note: Forwarding will stop after 30 days unless you contact us before then to request it be continued.
Google Apps users are responsible for managing their own accounts in addition to their company or organization accounts. If a user wants access to certain Google applications that are part of the domain (such as Google Voice or Picasa), they will need to sign up for them separately.
You can unsubscribe your mobile numbers from the G Suite domain through Step 3 of the Account Deletion process, and this will remove it from any users who have had that number forwarded to their Gmail accounts. If you want to do this manually, visit https://www.google.com/a, click Settings > Accounts > [click on an account] > Forwarding and POP/IMAP > Add a forwarding address… then select Remove This Forwarder. Note: Only administrators are able to stop forwarding for mobile phone numbers associated with users in your domain; however, users can stop forwarding individual mobile phone numbers added to their own accounts.
