How To Change Email of Xbox Account
Hi, I’d like to remove my Xbox live account from the email account that I used when I first created it and add it to a new one but I can’t find anywhere on Microsoft or Xbox websites where this can be done. Do you know how this is possible and if so how? Thanks!
I did that almost 2 years ago. Went to https://account.live.com/password/reset and entered your old password (which was the same as your Windows Live ID password) and then they send you an email with a link to reset the password which will be sent to the alternate email address you specify in the Microsoft Account settings page. Then in there, you should have a link “Add another email address” where you enter the email address where your Xbox live account was originally created, and then it should be there.
I went through this process when I changed my gamer tag because I had a lot of spam in my main Gmail account. By going to the new email address, it blocks all emails from Xbox Live if something goes wrong, like someone takes over your account. If you click on e-mail notifications, there is an option for “notifications only”. That will allow you to go into Xbox Live or any games that use XBL without actually logging in.
How to Change Email on Xbox Account – 2021
That’s basically how Microsoft accounts work though except the second step is under Sign-In Options under Settings, General and Security instead of Email Address Alternate Option That’s the process I followed to move it from my old email address to a new one. Hope this helps!
I don’t have an alternate account on that particular email, but you should be able to do what I did:1. Go into live.com and sign in with your regular credentials2. It should ask if you want to change your password3. You hit no (or cancel), as you won’t need that4. On the same screen, it asks for either a mobile phone or an alternate email5. Type in the info of your secondary account6. Get another email sent there that’s all there is to it! Then you can log out of the secondary account and login back in with your primary and keep everything linked together ;)Hope this helps!
I found this on the Xbox website: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/live/account-change… It appears to be an old link because it says “portal”, but it still shows the process for alternate email addresses and how you can change them in the account settings. Hope this helps!
You can also just create a new account (the same way it is set up) when you first sign in to Xbox One with that secondary account, then go into Account Management from there and delete your old one if you want to move on completely or anything like that. Took me less than 5 minutes when I did it earlier today haha
I have two separate email addresses associated with my Xbox Live account. I would like both to be able to access my achievements/messages in one place. Is this possible? Or will I need to create a new Microsoft account that is associated with only one of these email addresses?
You can have two associated email addresses but neither of them will be able to see each other’s achievements. Only the account with which they were created and that you’re currently logged in with is capable of seeing your accomplishments. There is no option within XBL to merge or combine accounts (so none on Microsoft’s end) as far as I know, unfortunately.
Yeah, it would definitely make things easier for a lot of friends and families. It would also allow my wife and I to play together when we want without having to log into separate Xbox accounts! (Exchanging control once in a while would be nice when playing games we both e/ChangeEmailPassword. This will take joy.) Although it would also allow playing online with people on the same Xbox account making things a bit more complicated for a lot of players. If you and your friends ever want to play multiplayer add me. My gamertag is L2B_XBL
I have an alternate email associated with my account I no longer use, but still want to receive emails from Xbox. I cannot find out how to change my primary email address so that it will forward notifications for purchases and new messages in club chat/game invite etc, just the original email address I opened my Xbox live account with. Is this possible? Or do I need to just create a new Microsoft Account altogether?
If you created your account with one email and want to switch the primary address you use to that one, check out Microsoft’s help center for account changes ( https://support.xbox.com/en-US/my-account ) There are instructions there about how the change will affect your entire profile (achievements, message history) but it’ll make sure all your future Xbox Live notifications go to a single email
I see what you mean… In which case I guess my only option is to delete the old sign-in and create a new one on the email I want as my primary? That sucks 🙁
Keeping both accounts open is silly because each one will be missing its respective parts of your profile. Wait, so I was right in the first place! You have to delete the old account and sign in with the new email address on your primary.
I just logged into my alternate email, checked my messages, then went back to settings and made it primary. My clubs are still there, but I guess that’s something I have to be mindful of from now on?-HemlockScrafty (talk) 02:14, November 23, 2015 (UTC)
account, Windows & even MSN email addresses!
If you have multiple Microsoft Accounts or Xbox Live accounts attached to the same email address it becomes very tedious going into each one and changing them individually as hundreds of many a year accumulation are on each one. If this is the case I suggest using this link: https://account.xbox.com/en-us
Due to Microsoft Account Hackings/Account Takeovers & Hacked Phones; Microsoft has decided to migrate all Xbox accounts onto a single email/password system as it is easier for them to track and manage and foregoes any password resets needed for a hacked/stolen account.
You cannot reset your Xbox achievements without deleting your Microsoft account. To start over, you need to create a new Microsoft account and register it with Xbox.
If you select Delete Profile and Items, the profile will be removed along with its saved games and achievements.
To recover your Xbox Gamertag, scroll down and choose “Update Contact Information.” You will return to your Xbox Live’s main dashboard menu. Remove any discs from your Xbox console. Select “Recover Gamertag from Xbox Live” from the dashboard and follow the on-screen instructions to retrieve it with your new Windows Live ID and password.
