To delete songs from Google Play Music, follow these steps:
- Open the Google Play Music app. Launch the app on your Android device, iPhone, or tablet. Ensure you’re signed in with the account that holds the songs you want to delete.
- Navigate to your library. Tap on the “Library” tab located at the bottom of the screen. Here, you’ll see all your songs, playlists, and albums.
- Find the song you want to delete. Scroll through your list or use the search feature. Tap on the three-dot menu icon next to the song title to see more options.
- Select “Delete from library.” In the menu that appears, tap on “Delete from library” or “Remove.” Confirm your choice if prompted. This will delete the song from your Google Play Music library and, if stored locally, from your device as well.
If you’re using a desktop or laptop, note that Google Play Music has been replaced by YouTube Music. To delete songs from your library on a computer, go to the YouTube Music website or app, follow similar steps, but be aware that deletion methods may vary slightly.
In some cases, songs purchased through Google Play might need to be removed via the Google Play Store or the Google Music Manager. However, most deletions can be managed directly within the mobile app using the steps above.
Keep in mind: deleting a song removes it from your library but does not cancel any active subscriptions or delete the purchased music from your Google account entirely. To permanently delete purchased music, check your purchase history in your Google account.
Extra tip: Back up your favorite songs before deleting if you might want to listen offline later. You can upload personal music files to Google Play Music or switch to a streaming service like YouTube Music for easier management.
