If you can’t remember it, go to icloud.com/forgot on a computer or use Find My iPhone on an iOS device (sign in using your Apple ID). If you want to delete an additional family member’s Apple ID, learn how at appleid.apple.com. If you later decide that you’d like to use iCloud again, open Settings, tap iCloud, then tap Turn On. Your data will be waiting for you when you sign in with your existing Apple ID or create a new one.

How to Delete Apple ID

I don’t want an Apple ID but need iCloud services for some features. Can I create an Apple ID without providing any personal information? Yes, use an email address that’s invalid or out-of-service, such as [email protected], to create an Apple ID. In order for your Apple ID to be used with iCloud, you must provide a valid email address. However, any contact details that you provide are not used for marketing purposes without your consent and are not disclosed to third parties except when required by law or to enforce our terms, conditions, and policies.

For more information about privacy while using iCloud services and how we use the personal information associated with your Apple ID account, please visit appleid.apple.com. Additional privacy terms applicable to residents of China are available here.

How can I change what’s displayed on my name in iTunes? If you want a different name associated with purchases on iTunes, follow these steps:

Go to Settings > iTunes & App Store. Tap your Apple ID, then tap View Apple ID. Sign in with your Apple ID and password. Under “Account,” tap Payment Information. Next to the billing address for that credit card or debit card, tap Edit. Enter a new name as you would like it to appear when making purchases on iTunes, then tap Done.

How can I prevent others from using my account without my permission? You can require an additional step to be used to approve purchases from iTunes, iBooks, and the App Store (this doesn’t apply to subscriptions). To set this up:

Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode or Face ID & Passcode (Face ID on iPhone X models only) and create a passcode. Turn on Require Passcode to Unlock Your Device for purchases.

To turn off or change this setting, follow these steps:

Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode or Face ID & Passcode (Face ID on iPhone X models only). Enter your passcode if prompted. Tap Change Password. Enter your old password and new password when prompted, then tap Next. Tap Done.

I want a different payment method than my Apple ID default payment method. How can I change it? Sign in to icloud.com/verify with your Apple ID and password, if prompted. Under “Account,” click Payment Information next to the current primary payment method you’d like to delete. Click Delete next to the current method.

When prompted, enter the requested information and click Next to confirm. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up a new payment method, then tap Done in the top right corner. You won’t be able to use your Apple ID until you sign in with your password. If you signed out of iCloud before following these steps, please repeat them from that device or computer and sign back in after setting up a payment method – otherwise, it may not work properly for future purchases and downloads from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store. Also, keep in mind that it can take several days before this change is fully reflected across all services where you use this credit card when checking out (such as making an In- Purchase). So, don’t be alarmed if you see an older payment method on a recent purchase.

I’m being asked for my billing address when I buy or download something from the App Store, iTunes Store, or iBookstore and would prefer not to use my billing address as my Apple ID. How can I change this? If you do not want your contact information associated with your purchases from the App Store, iTunes Store, and iBooks Store (for example your mailing address), follow these steps to create a new default shipping address in your account:

Go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores. Tap your Apple ID, then tap View Apple ID. Sign in with your Apple ID and password. Under “Payment Information,” tap View Account. You’ll be asked to sign in with your password again. Under Subscriptions, tap on any subscription that appears there and then tap Edit. Tap Apple ID: [your name or email] When prompted for a new address, use the keyboard to type the correct one and then tap Add New Address. Click Done.

The changes you’ve made will take effect immediately but may not appear when making future purchases from iTunes, iBooks Store, and App Store until several days after making them. This delay can range from 1-10 days depending on your purchase history and past address associations.
