If you empty the “Deleted Items” folder, the file might show up in a new Explorer window under the “Recoverable Items” section. To find it: In Outlook, click on Folder tab and then Recover Deleted Items; Select the item you want to recover by clicking on it and then Press Recover Selected Item.

Purging email is when you remove messages marked for deletion with the delete command. They are erased from the server or your local computer system and cannot be recovered once purged. Be sure you have archived or do not need any messages marked for deletion before issuing a purge command.
