How To Delete Messenger Group
Google search results for Can you delete a Facebook Messenger group :
It used to be that people could only add you if they were already on your friend’s list or at least mutual friends with someone else who was in the Facebook Messenger group. However, according to this Quora response from two years ago, Facebook has since changed it so that anyone (not necessarily a member of the same network – that is, someone who can see each other’s profiles or send private messages) can add anyone else to their messenger groups. I’m not sure whether this still applies as the SA article above says “You may have been added by an existing member” but given how vague it is – and how easy it is to recruit people into your group without their consent – it is definitely worth looking into.
If you’re not sure who added you to the group, you can check this out in Facebook Messenger > Menu (top right) > Groups. If you see a button with a list next to it and an arrow pointing down – click that. You should be able to see who has administrating rights for the group in there – which means they have power over removing other members. Can’t find anyone? Scroll through everyone on the member list until you get to the bottom of it (useful tip: search for their name if they went overboard with tagging themselves). Can’t find them anywhere else either? It’s likely that someone recruited you by mistake or added your number without permission and is completely unaware of it. Can’t find the group admin and want to report a violation of Facebook’s community standards? Read my article on how to report a problem with a group and check out Can you delete an unwanted Facebook interest or page? for instructions on how to remove your name from interests that you unknowingly subscribed to (this won’t work if someone added you without your knowledge but click through and read anyway – it’s still pretty useful).
Tap More > Check group info > Members. Except your own name, click next to each member’s name until you reach the point where you can remove them from the group. Remove them from the group by selecting Leave Group next to your name on the confirmation page. nTap Delete and Leave Group from the confirmation screen.
Tap and hold the group chat you wish to remove in the Chats tab. Go to More options > Exit group, then EXIT. Tap and hold the group chat one more time, then choose Delete.
Starting today, you may easily remove your message on Messenger – whether it’s to one person or a group – by using this option. Simply tap on the message you want to delete and choose “Remove for Everyone.”
It’s impossible to restore a Facebook group after it has been deleted. You won’t be able to resurrect it once it is gone. It’s also worth noting that only the original creator of the group may permanently delete it as long as they are still a member. If the creator of the group has departed, any other admin may delete it.
To delete a group, go to its Facebook page and click the “Delete Group” button. You may permanently remove your group by deleting it. When a group has no members, it is deleted.
Tap the Groups icon. Select Your Groups from the drop-down menu. Go to the group you want to delete. To access additional options, touch the shield admin button. Scroll down and pick Delete Group.
Select Teams in the admin dashboard. Select a team by clicking its name. Delete may be selected. A confirmation message will appear if you select this option. To permanently delete a team, choose Delete.
To do so, tap on Details in the message’s upper right corner. Scroll down towards the bottom of the page to get there, and you’ll find Leave This Conversation. After that, you should not be responded to.
If you choose to remove the message, you must confirm your decision by clicking a button that says “Delete.” The copy of the conversation in which you made this choice will be permanently deleted. After that, your version of the conversation is cleared and no longer accessible. However, the message is removed from everyone else’s copies of the discussion.
Once you’ve quit a group, you can no longer see its messages. You won’t be able to search for the group in your conversation, and you won’t get notifications from the group any longer. There’s no method for rejoining a group other than being accepted again.
