Can you delete your purchase history on the App Store?

Answer

If you don’t want to see an app in your purchase list that you’ve downloaded, but cannot delete from the App Store, … then look at your purchase history but keep in mind that you can’t remove apps from there.

✅ Can You Delete App Store Purchase Transaction History? ????

Yes, you can delete your purchase history in the app store. Go to Settings then iTunes and App Stores. Then tap on Your Account. Scroll down where it says “Purchase History”. There should be a blue arrow pointing up, click on that so it will reveal more options. You then have two choices: “Show ALL” or “Don’t show.” If you tap on either of these you will see a list of all your purchases and games that you have downloaded from the App Store. Simply tap on Remove at the top right corner of each game (you may want to do this one by one) and when asked, confirm by pressing OK. And just like magic, your purchase history is deleted! The only way to go back and view it is by re-buying the games and apps.

You will still have the app on your device, but you won’t be able to see it in purchase history. It’s gone forever!

There are many reasons why you would want to do such a thing… one of those reasons includes “permanent deletion” which means that deleting the app from your device (and ipad) does not mean that you deleted the install or the game itself. There is an option under Settings–> General –> Usage –> Manage Storage where you can delete it for good. Another reason could be because it was causing problems with iOS update, like updating some apps while leaving others behind… this happens more often than we think (mainly due to space problems).

There are three ways to erase apps from your device: physically erasing the app, restoring it, and uninstalling/unpurchasing it. If you can’t find the app in your App Store purchase history, then there is another way to get rid of it, but it only works with iOS 7 devices or newer. See the section below for more details on this one.

How To Delete App Purchase History on iPhone, iPad or Mac

1) Physically Erase App – You can go into iTunes and click on Apps under the Library header at the top (where all your music and movies are listed). Then click on an app and go to the File menu. You might have to click twice: once to reveal all of the options, and second time for it to actually open up. Choose “Delete App” and OK through the warning screen that pops up telling you that this is permanent. You can now see that the app has been removed from your device and cleared out of your purchase history.

2) Restore Device – First make sure you back up your apps onto iCloud or iTunes so everything will get restored when you restore your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch/etc. To do this go into Settings then General->Usage->Manage Storage (you may need a free third party backup like iBackupBot). Then tap on iTunes and App Store and wait for it to do its magic. It will find every app you had previously on your device (even if they are not in your purchase history). You can verify this by going into Settings–>iTunes & App Stores. If there is a list of apps under the Purchased section then you can be confident that those apps are now on your iTunes/iPhone backup, ready to be restored back onto your iPhone or iPad once you restore from your backup.

3) Uninstall/Unpurchase – To see all of the apps that have ever been purchased on an Apple ID go into Settings then iTunes & App Stores and scroll down under “Purchased.” Tap on any application, press More at the top right and then press “Report a Problem” (if you are trying to take off those pesky free apps that come with your iPhone, then the free version of each app will be tied up under the same Apple ID). From there you have two choices: Remove or Don’t Allow. If you opt for “Remove,” this is permanent and it means they will no longer appear in your purchase history. This option works for all versions of iOS starting with iOS 7 so even if an app was purchased back in 2012 on an old device, it can still be removed by going through these steps*.

*Side Note: You may want to do this when selling multiple devices because if the new owner were to check everything out on their own App Store account,
