You can delete your Facebook account permanently by deleting all the content, photos and deactivating your account.
If you want to keep some of the information on Facebook but wish to delete it from your timeline you can use another feature called Download Your Information tool. This enables you to download all of your personal data from Facebook in a single file including:
*Your posts and comments on the wall, or other people’s postings that you’ve been tagged in *The friends who appear on the top right-hand side of pages when visiting with [your] Facebook account *A log of requests, friend requests pending review, searches by others for names that look like yours, and tags other users have added to your own profile photo *The names of all the groups, events and lists that [you] are associated with *The date and time when you got your Facebook account
To activate this feature login to your Facebook account then go to Settings>>Download Your Information. This will grant you 30 days before the deletion. You can delete your profile immediately upon request by clicking on “Request Download”.
If you want to completely deactivate your account, log into Facebook then click Deactivating my Account, to learn how long it takes for an account to be completely deactivated. When is a deactivated page removed from search results? If you’ve chosen to deactivate your page, people who have already liked or followed it will still have access until they remove their likes, follows, or shares. While your page is inactive, it will not appear in search results on Facebook. If you deactivate a Page that you manage for an organization, all activity by admins of the Page including making future posts will be removed entirely from the Page and its Insights analytics data.
The company also maintains two other special privacy features: File Your Report if You See Something and Turn On Two-Factor Authentication. Users can file their reports directly to Facebook’s team where they can see any action taken on them within 48 hours. When using this option users are encouraged to submit their name, phone number, or email address so that they can be reached for details. The second feature allows users to add another layer of security to their accounts via the Facebook app. Once you have activated the feature, a unique code will be sent to your phone and email which you must use in addition to your password every time you log in to your account.
How can I hide my Facebook posts from all of my friends?
To hide all of your Facebook posts from everyone except the friends that you’ve chosen, visit Privacy Settings>>Timeline and Tagging. This section has two options: Who can see posts on [my] timeline? and Who sees tag suggestions when photos that look like me are uploaded? The first option allows users to post as public so that everybody including strangers can access the content while the second shows who can make tag suggestions using a photo previously taken with someone’s mobile device. The details displayed in this section will not be known to users who are not your friends.
If you want to hide personal information from future posts or past activities, click on Tagging Suggestions and enter a code or filter phrase that can only be used by people you have already accepted as a friend. This will ensure that information is removed once it is tagged and all tagging suggestions made by strangers will not appear on photos any further. How do I turn off Facebook’s ability to use my name?
To remove an app’s access to your public profile information (name, gender, user ID number) go to Your Settings>>Apps. Click Edit for each of the apps listed there like Spotify, Photobucket, and OpenTable. Click X to the right of each app, then confirm by clicking Remove so that your name isn’t used by them any further.
To remove an app’s access to your basic information (name, profile picture, gender) go to Settings>>Apps. Press Edit below Instant Personalization, this is a feature that allows you to automatically post “I’m listening to…” or “Watching…”, etc., on Facebook when users choose related songs from Spotify or videos from Hulu Plus. Next press x next to the apps listed there like Last.FM, Song Pop, Meet Me Here, etc., then click Delete Profile Photos under App Details in order for your name not to be used by them anymore. How can I stop strangers from seeing my future posts?
By default, posts to Facebook are public. If you change your privacy settings so that only friends can see what you post, people who aren’t on Facebook won’t be able to find it or see it in search results. However, even if a certain post cannot be found by strangers, once they become friends with the author they will be able to view the content. In order to stop strangers from seeing your future posts before becoming your friend, visit Privacy Settings>>Timeline and Tagging. Entering a code or filter phrase into the Tag suggestions field will ensure that information is removed once it is tagged and all tagging suggestions made by strangers will not appear on photos any further. How do I create a secret Facebook group?
A secret Facebook group is a part of the site that can’t be found through search engines or by any means except being invited to join. This feature helps you create an exclusive online community where you can share files and messages without anyone else knowing about it. To create one, go to Groups>>Create A Group. Under Create a New Group, type in your friend’s name (or hit Add Friends if they’re already on Facebook) then click Invite. Any user who has been added as a friend will be able to join the new secret group. The privacy of the group will work only when everyone involved wants others in it to see what has been posted. In order for this feature to work properly, users must ensure that their timeline privacy setting allows people they have granted access to see their future posts. Users are also advised not to accept requests from strangers because pages like information may be displayed on the group’s page.

There is no way for any user to stop his/her friends from finding out anything he/she has posted online unless there is only one member in that particular group or all members agree not to share content with others. In case your friend does something you don’t want him/her to do, send him/her an invite and add some code or filter word into it so he/she can join the group but the content can’t be seen by him/her. To add a code or filter word, just click on your group’s name on top of the page then select Group Settings>>Group Privacy in order to edit your profile settings. How do I stop strangers from seeing my Facebook friends?
By default, anyone can see who you’re friends with on Facebook because privacy settings are set at Friends. In order to have full control over what is visible about you and your relationships with others, change it accordingly: Privacy Settings >>Timeline and Tagging > Who can see posts you’ve been tagged in? And then choose Only Me, which will make sure no one sees what has been posted on photos and statuses by people you happen to be friends with. How do I prevent strangers from seeing my posts?
When you change your settings to only share information with people you know, no one will see it. However, once these new privacy settings are set, the content posted before that won’t become private as well. A good way to avoid this is by contacting all friends one by one in order for them not to see anything you’ve done on Facebook so far and then making sure they don’t visit the site until everything that may or may not have been posted has been deleted. In addition, if your friend doesn’t like something he/she sees from you, there’s an option of deleting his/her name out of your friend’s list in Privacy Settings.

If you want to stay away from Facebook’s temptation, then deleting your account is the way to go. Deleting your account will free up some time and give you peace of mind. Deactivating your account first can help you decide if it’s worth deleting.
If you deactivate your account, no one will see it and your comments won’t be seen by friends or strangers.
If you need to cancel your Facebook account, be sure to deactivate it and then erase all the data from Facebook. Account activation doesn’t delete or remove friends or settings – they stay on file even if you stop using it. This means that deleting your account is easy to reestablish later on.
To delete your account, on the Facebook main profile tap Settings and Privacy, then Account Information.
To delete the page, click “Delete Page” at the bottom of its settings screen.
