Solved – cannot change user account picture in Windows 8 – thewayur
Many people are not aware that they can change their user account picture in Windows 8. It’s one of the many personalization options available to you, but it may be difficult to find out how to do so. This article will show you how to change your account picture in Windows 8…
To change your account picture in Windows 8, go to the Windows Start screen and type ‘Account’. The search should return a choice for Settings. Click on this option and it will open up a new window with options to change user accounts settings. On this new window you should see a link that says “Change your account photo”. When clicked, another menu with different choices will appear along the left side of the screen. Here you have the option to either select one from an online resource or add something from your computer like a picture or video (more on this below).
Once chosen, there is also the choice of an album picker, timeline picker and map picker if you want more options when choosing where to pull pictures from. The map picker was not tested in the writing of this article but will be short. Once selected, your new picture can be changed by clicking on it and resizing in a manner similar to all other tiles in Windows 8 or a locked photo can be added by dragging it down to the bottom of the screen where there is an arrow pointing downward.
The process for adding a photo from your computer has not been modified from previous versions of Windows except that you now have more than one default folder to choose from (pictures, videos, etc). All other choices are located above this section via dropdown menus…
If you prefer not to use any online resources for your account image, simply click on “Add a picture” and navigate to where the photo is stored on your computer. The image will be added after you click “Choose this file.” After it has been added, you can resize or reposition it as necessary before clicking the checkmark in the top right-hand corner of the menu.
From the Start Menu, click into the lower left corner or upper left corner to reveal the Charms menu. Click on Settings in the lower right corner. Select More PC Settings from the drop-down menu. After you’ve done that, go to Step 6. On Personalize, choose Account Picture from the Right Pane > click on Account Picture from right pane
Select the Start > Settings > Accounts > Your info. Select Browse files under Change your photo. If you have a camera on your phone, select Take a photo and take a selfie instead.
Select Change Account Picture from the drop-down menu. On the upper right corner of the Start screen, click on the User Tile. Choose Change Account Picture from the drop-Down Menu. Use the Browse button to select any picture from your computer, Bing, SkyDrive, or even your camera if you choose one of the available backgrounds.
The ability to convert a Windows 10 installation into a desktop background may still be found, as it has been in previous versions of the operating system. Right-clicking on any image file within a non-activated version of Windows 10 will still offer the option to “set as desktop background,” and this can also be done via right-click on images in a web browser and the “…” dropdown menu in the Photos app.
The Settings app is used by local accounts. Select a new picture using the “Browse” button in Your Info > Accounts. Login to account.microsoft.com and choose a new picture from the drop-down menu under “Your info.” Change your image with Microsoft accounts by selecting “Change image,” then “New photo.”
Drag the center of the square to your profile picture. To change or add a profile picture, tap the camera on your account photo. Take or choose a new profile image. Tap Save as a Profile Picture when you’re done.
