How To Delete Your Facebook Account (2021)
Social media experts are reporting that Facebook has killed more than 50 accounts and pages in the Philippines. While no official statement has been released by Facebook, a number of reports have linked the ban to Community Standards violations for spreading false information, spamming or using fake accounts. A few of these banned pages include Banana TV, Press Nationals and Opinion Leaders Alliance. The report also suggests that Facebook is now looking into the suspected involvement of several other pages and groups that have not been banned but are also spreading fake news. As in previous cases, when a page or an account is suspended by Facebook it can only be restored upon appeal and thorough review by the social media behemoth’s administration.
The report further states that this latest crackdown on Facebook is part of Facebook’s continuing larger efforts to fight against fake news and false information as well as the increasing pressure from regulators, political leaders and various media outlets who have criticized the company for allowing the spread of misinformation in previous elections. The social media community has been grappling with how to properly address issues relating to misleading content, hate speech, harassment and other forms of online abuse for several years now.
