How to Remove Powered by Weebly Footer for Free

Weebly’s Footer feature allows you to display your email address and copyright information at the bottom of every page on your Weebly website. To delete the footer, click on Design from the left-hand menu, then scroll down until you find the Footer section. Click on Delete beside “Footer Address” and once again click OK to confirm. Then remove any text or images from where it says “Enter Your Copyright Text Here.” Next time a visitor comes to your site they will no longer see this information.

If you want to edit what is written hereafter deleting it (for example if you want to change it from saying “Copyright 2015 Bob Smith”) follow these steps instead: Go back into Design and click on Footer again. The Delete option has now disappeared from beside “Footer Address”, but you can click on Update beside the copyright section instead and change this to say whatever you like.

If you have a Personal Plan, you will not be able to edit your footer after deleting it – this is because of Weebly’s terms of service. However, if this terminates your agreement with them then Weebly will refund any remaining credit on your account unless they suspect fraudulent or unlawful activity. If none of these options are available for you then please contact Weebly’s support team for further help: https://www.weebly.com/contact (this link opens in a new window).

Why can’t I add a meta description to my Weebly site?

There are not many situations when you will need to edit your website’s meta description, but they are useful for adding short descriptions of pages or images that link back to your site; these show up in search engines like Google. To be able to do this, however, you must first fill out the ‘Description (eg. HTML text)’ section beneath each image or page and then select it from the ‘Meta Description Tag(s)’ menu on the right. Then click Update beside the image or page you are working on and your changes will take effect.

You cannot edit these descriptions directly in Weebly as it is a custom tag that works differently from other meta tags; this can be done through a plugin, but we do not recommend adding in plugins unless they are very necessary (read more about this here). However, if you want to see how your site looks with one of these descriptions, click on Edit beside your website name at the top left of the screen, then go into Design again and click the ‘Meta Description Tag(s)’ menu item beneath each image or page to test out some different variations. If you want to try them all out for yourself, You can just copy them down here:

How do I change my Weebly temporary URL?

A temporary URL is an address that Weebly gives to your website while it is in development; this URL isn’t permanent so if someone wants to find out where they can view your site they should use one of these addresses instead: https://www.weebly.

If you want to change your page from being a temporary URL to a permanent one, follow these steps: Go back into Design and click on Top Menu again. Scroll down beneath ‘Temporary URLs’ until you find where it says ‘All Pages’ or ‘My Account and click on one of these options; depending on what your site looks like the menu will change accordingly and say something else instead (for example if we clicked All Pages then the menu would show ‘All Pages’ in bold letters instead). Below this there is also an option that reads Website Name; you can give

this ia permanent URL here too. (If it is already filled out, just change the part that reads “websitename.weebly.com”: for example if your website name was “My Cool Site” then you would type in cool instead.) Now click Save & Close and your Weebly site will be permanently linked to wherever you have typed in as the new website name!

Note: If your website is not immediately connected to your domain, this can take up to 48 hours before everything has been taken over; this means that people may still see the temporary page title when they visit it until this time has passed. You can see an indicator of when this should happen by looking at the top right corner of your screen where it will say – yourdomain.com (it is also here that you can find out when your site will be taken over by clicking on the link that says ‘Currently under construction).

If this time frame is not going to work for you, then you should consider changing your design again so that your domain name is included in the URL as well as the page title; click on Design and then click Top Menu again to edit your top menu bar. Then scroll down again until you find the link that says ‘Print style – Preview as a static page’, click on this and change it to read ‘Print style – Show my domain as part of the URL’. Now your website will be permanently linked to your domain name!

Note: You have to stick with this version of the design for the rest of your time using Weebly; deleting and adding back in any changes means that you cannot keep this permanent connection.

How do I create sub pages?

Once you are back in Design, click on New Page (if it isn’t already selected). Type in your sub-page title into the box that appears beneath ‘Create a new page’ and then click Save & Close. Your page will then appear underneath every other page already on your website; you can now add content to this using the web editor!
