If you want to delete your account, please go into the “Me” tab and select ‘Account Settings‘. Once inside of the settings menu, you will be able to find a privacy tab. From there, hit on the button that says ‘Delete Account

You can delete your online shopping account by clicking on the Account link at the bottom of any page. From there, click on the “Delete Account” link and follow the instructions to remove it completely.

What do I lose when I delete my online shopping account?

If you choose to delete your online shopping account, all your personal information will be deleted permanently and you will lose access to some features of the site such as:

* Viewing past orders; * Managing past orders (cancel or change); * Accessing order tracking information; * Accessing order status updates; * Creating an Online Store wishlist; and * Having additional options for saving gift registries. Also, if you have registered for our Amazon Prime service, your membership will be canceled and you must re-enroll to enjoy the benefits of this service. In addition, if you have registered for the Shop with Points program, all points that you have accumulated will be forfeited.

What happens to my account balance?

Your account’s negative and positive balances of trade dollars are deleted when you delete your account. These trade dollars can only be used toward purchases on our site and have no cash value outside of amazon.com. If there is a negative balance in your account at the time of deletion, we will not charge your credit card for the amount owed nor report it as an unpaid transaction to the credit bureaus.

If there is a credit balance in your account at the time you request to delete your Amazon.com account, we will return that credit to your Amazon.com payment method or issue you a check for the amount owed (if you have given us a valid mailing address).


What happens to my Gift Certificate balance?

If you purchased an Amazon.com gift certificate as an online gift or other type of gift and if there is a remaining balance in that certificate when you delete your account, we will email you instructions on how to redeem it by using another form of payment once you have deleted your account. After the redemption of any remaining value on an expired or otherwise unused gift certificate, any funds received from its redemption will be remitted to the purchaser’s billing method on file. If you do not redeem the value of your gift certificate and there is no remaining balance, the funds will be remitted to the purchaser’s billing method on file.

What is personal information?

Personal information is any information, in addition to the items included in “What do I lose when I delete my online shopping account?”, that personally identifies you as an individual or relates to an identifiable individual. This includes your name, billing and shipping addresses, phone number and email address. Purchasing records contain personal identifying information such as your name and credit card number, which are considered personal information if they relate to an identifiable individual. Personal information will remain with Amazon even though you have chosen to delete your online shopping account.

Do my account status and payment method affect my ability to publish items as an Associate?

Your account status (active or suspended) does not impact whether you can publish items as an associate. Your payment method, however, is directly tied to your account status. Your status will be affected if you do not make payments on time or if the payment method you have attached to your account reaches a certain threshold of non-payment activity.

If I delete my account and later want to reactivate it, what should I expect?

To reactivate an existing online shopping account that has been previously deleted, the only information required would be your email address and password. The system will return any past order information based on previous shipping addresses associated with the account as well as recent orders using billing and/or shipping addresses added after activation. You can also edit this information at any time by clicking “Manage Account” on the top right-hand corner of any Amazon page.

However, if your account remains in an activated state for a period greater than 24 months and you attempt to reactivate it after that time has elapsed, you’ll need to create a new shopping account with new email and payment information.

When will my online shopping account be deleted?

Account deletion occurs soon after we receive your request. For your security, your request is processed during our regular business hours (Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Pacific Time). It may take up to 72 hours for us to email you confirmation of your deletion instructions before deleting all personal identifying information associated with your online shopping account. This delay allows us to ensure that we eliminate all of your personal information. To make sure that you receive an email confirmation from Amazon, be sure to enter your correct email address when you sign in to the Account Removal page or complete and submit the online form.

I’m a developer using MWS APIs – does my account need to be deleted?

If you removed Marketplace Website Payments (MWS) API access from an existing application without deleting it first, both the application and its associated inactive seller/payee accounts will remain in our system until they are properly deleted by a user with administrator privileges. My business is defunct. Can I have my online shopping account deleted?

If your business is inactive and has no outstanding orders, you can proceed with deletion of your online shopping account. If your company continues to process any Amazon orders, we may need to keep records related to that order activity in order for us to properly fulfill our commitment under our seller agreement. If your online shopping account is suspended, it will remain in our system until you reactivate the account or request deletion. Suspension of an active online shopping account occurs very infrequently for security reasons such as suspected fraudulent activity. If we suspend your account, we will provide a notice indicating the reason for suspension and a date when we expect to be able to reinstate the account within 30 days after the initial suspension date.
