Tinder offers users the ability to deactivate their accounts should they ever want to discontinue using the service. They provide two easy ways for you to deactivate your Tinder profile:

1) Click the gear icon in the top right corner of any page (desktop version) or swipe from left to right on your mobile device, then click Settings -> Deactivate Your Account; OR

2) Tap on the menu icon in the top left corner of any page (desktop version) or tap more at the bottom of your screen on mobile, then Settings -> Deactivate Your Account.

Deactivating your account is not a permanent solution to deleting it completely. This means that if you reinstate your Tinder account after deactivation, all of your previous information will be restored exactly as it was when you originally created the profile and your matches before deactivation may still appear. If this is unacceptable for you please follow these steps:

1) Click “Settings” in the navigation menu (top right corner – desktop version). Then select “Delete Account”.

2) You will then be asked to enter your password in order to verify your identity before you can delete your account. Please note that only the password currently associated with Payment Method(s) (e.g., Credit Card, PayPal and/or Gift Card) will be able to remove your account permanently from Tinder.

3) Tinder will then ask you if you are absolutely sure “Are you sure you want to delete your account?” Answer yes and it will confirm that the deletion is complete within 24 hours. If not, it may take up to 48 hours for the process to be completed. Once this is done, a confirmation email will be sent to the address on file at payment method (if there’s no change in address or contact info during sign-up). Check spam/junk mail just in case.

Please note that this process is permanent and you cannot reactivate your Tinder account after it has been deleted. Please make sure to save any information or photos on the app that you want to keep before deleting your account permanently if you choose this option. If at a later time, you change your mind about deleting your Tinder profile, unfortunately there will be no way for us to recover it using the above method since only payment information linked to the original created account can remove it permanently from our system.

Yes, but please note that deleting an account means that any paid membership will be canceled along with the deletion of the profile, so there’s no way back after doing this. Each Tinder profile requires a unique email address so you’ll need to sign out of tinder first then create another profile using different email if you’d like to delete it again. Your new account will not affect your old one in any way or result in any issues regarding old matches or messages as they’ll remain separate profiles forever. After confirming deactivation we do require time for our system to process your request so it will take some time for your Tinder profile to be completely removed from our servers.

If you delete an account, it’s gone forever so we want to make sure that you’re aware of the action you took and also what this means. For safety reasons Tinder automatically sends a confirmation link after a user has completed deleting his / her profile to make sure that it was not done by someone else or the user accidentally. Please note: disputing your cancellation will not reverse the deletion process and any request for restoration will be ignored since all accounts are permanently deleted after being canceled except in cases where there is evidence of fraud or if the user has been removed from Tinder due to violating our Terms of Use in any way.
