You can restore a deactivated Yahoo email account after it has been deleted, but you must act quickly. After you deactivate your Yahoo Mail account, you have 30 days to retrieve it before it is permanently erased. Signing back into your account is all that’s required to recover your Yahoo Mail account.

If you don’t make a plan for your Yahoo account (and no one hacks into it), after 12 months of inactivity, it will be deleted. This “do nothing” method may work well if you don’t want anyone to have access to your email account and believe no one would try to access it.
