Why is there a notification about Google services from Xiaomi?
Why doesn’t Google Play store show up?
Google decided to remove the dedicated Google Play store app from their G suite as announced here: https://support.google.com/a/answer/7027085?hl=en . If you have a G suite account, you can add the Play Store app manually using this link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/#details?id=com.android.vending&hl=en and your login credentials will take care of everything else! We also offer a website version at http://redminotesuite4g.uk/apps.html for you to download and install from the comfort of your browser!
How do I enable full screen mode on Redmi Note 5?
On many occasions you may need a few extra pixels of space – why not make use of them? It’s easy to enable this feature: Settings > Display . Look for ” Full Screen ” in the list, tap it, then tap again on the switch at the top left corner and enjoy! Please note that some apps may not be optimized for full screen usage, though, so if problems occur we recommend turning off full-screen mode right away. Alternatively you can go back to display settings and set the option back to normal (which makes most apps work properly).
How do I record audio using the microphone on Redmi Note 5?

Why won’t my device’s default video player work when I try to play a multimedia file?
Xiaomi has decided not include their own video player in MIUI ROMs anymore and replaced it with MX Player from LavaSoft LLC. This was done in order to comply with Google’s policies which mandate that you can only ship a single default for video playback on devices running Android 7 and above.
We didn’t want this to happen so we’ve included the stock Video app as an optional download, and you can find it here: https://redminotesuite4g.uk/apps.html .
Even though MIUI does not use its own video player anymore, by using the stock one you get several advantages over MX Player: recording using the mic is more stable (although not tested yet), there is a date-stamp option available (which makes for easier journaling later on) and has better control of seeking in videos while watching them.
How do I get rid of the “Overlay Detected” notification?
You can disable it either by going to Settings > Sound & Notifications > Clear All Overlays or by turning off the Notification access for individual apps. You will find that option in Settings > Apps > Select App > Permissions .
What are all these “overlay” notifications? What are they used for?
Starting from Android Oreo, Google introduced a feature called “notification channels”: you can now group and categorize all your notifications into logical groups without losing control over them! This way you can have a different tone set for each channel, and choose whether or not to show the icon/name of the app in the top-right corner of your screen – an awesome feature for devs which can help you to maximize app engagement!
If you’re not seeing any notifications from the system itself, make sure that you are allowed to receive them. This can be done by opening Settings > Apps and then tapping on Notifications access for a specific app and turning it on. You may also use this menu to switch notification channels or even turn them off completely, if desired (or needed).
Why are my phone’s camera notifications different? How do I stop WhatsApp from vibrating?
This is all about notification channels – we’ve already talked about them above, but in this case they’re related to the camera app. There’s a separate channel for each individual function of your camera, and the same is true for other apps like WhatsApp, Telegram or YouTube – basically any app which has its own notification settings. Even though it may be confusing at first it does allow you greater control over notifications than what was offered before, so give them a try!
My device went into “Safe Mode” after an update – how do I stop that? (this also applies to MIUI 9 only)
Starting from MIUI 8 China Developer ROM 5.12.13 few steps were made in order to make system updates less likely to brick devices: these steps included introducing a Reboot Phase 1 Rom Verification step and the so-called “Safe Mode” which keeps device in a bootloop until you can provide QCN for the ROM.
Now to permanently get rid of Safe Mode, you need to find out what is causing it – this can be done by flashing Custom Recovery (we suggest TWRP) and wiping partitions required when booting into system. If you don’t know how to do that please ask in our MIUI Device Support section instead!
Why does my phone vibrate but nothing else happens? I have unread messages, but can’t see them!
This is also a consequence of the alteration in how notifications are handled after Android Oreo. Apps which get notified about camera/mic activity now have their own notification channel and therefore allow greater control over individual functions. By default, you will have to open the app itself in order to actually see what’s going on with it – there is no longer a general notification category for “app X has started using your camera / mic”. This may be confusing at first, but as we’ve already talked about above it does offer several advantages for devs looking to improve engagement and consistency between apps.
If you want to turn off vibration without opening the app yourself simply go into > Settings > Notification Access and turn off the camera notifications for that app.
This also applies to MIUI – what we call “missed calls” are actually from the Incoming Calls notification. So if you want to turn them off without opening Xiaomi Dialer simply go into > Settings > Notification Access and disable the Incoming Call channel (or any other which is not relevant for you).
Might be useful in case you want people around you not to know about some important unread messages – just open up your chat with them and disable vibration there! 🙂
How do I find out what apps used my camera/mic? What caused Google Play Store to update all of a sudden?
All of this is related to notification channels mentioned above – if you open the app’s settings after installing it will automatically create a channel for itself and place all relevant functions there. For example, when you go into your camera app (or any other which has its own notifications) you can see what exactly was used in any given moment right at the top. The same applies to Google Play Store: every single one of its updates creates a new notification channel, so in case you don’t want every update to trigger a message from that app simply disable all available ones from > Settings > Notification Access .
1. Open Settings.
2. Tap on “Sync”.
3. Tap on “Google”.
4. Tap on “More”.
5. Select the option “Remove Account”.
Select a third-party account that you want to remove from your Google Account. Next to the account you want to remove, click “remove” or “unlink.”
Log in to your Google Account and then select “Security” from the left-hand menu. Under “Your Devices” click on the device you wish to remove, and next to “Account Access” click “Remove.”
