How do I reopen a closed Google account?

Answer

If you’ve deleted your Google Account, there’s a chance for it to be restored. If you have many years on the account, you may not be able to retrieve data in your account.

To request the reopening of a closed Google account, you must complete this form.

If you have multiple accounts on a shared computer and all are closed due to misuse, each person who used those accounts should submit their own request.

Please note that reopening an account for someone else will not result in additional access to other Gmail or non-Gmail services like YouTube – the username and password that reopen your account can only be used by whoever submitted the account closure appeal. If you’d like to grant access to available non-Google products (such as YouTube) please use our Open Access pages.

Closing an account is never reversible, so we encourage you to make sure it’s really what you want before submitting this form. Please note that if you have an account for your business, adding or removing users on that account is only available to administrators.

In the interests of keeping our users’ personal information safe, we don’t ever provide details on whether or not a particular request has been granted. We will notify you by email at the address associated with your closed account (if it’s still valid), though please be aware that this can take up to several weeks and may occasionally get caught in your spam filter. If you don’t receive word from us within a couple of months, please submit the request again so we know about it.

NOTE: There is no option to temporarily suspend your account. Regardless of the circumstances surrounding an account closure, we may not be able to reopen it later on, so please make sure that leaving Google is what you really want before submitting this form.

How long do you have to reactivate a deleted Google Account?

If you’ve deleted a user account and want to restore it within 20 days, the Google Workspace technical support team can help. If more than 20 days have elapsed, it is unretrievable.
