How to Delete Facebook Account Permanently

You can request to permanently remove (delete) your account from Facebook by visiting the Delete My Account page on Facebook. When you visit the Delete My Account page, we will guide you through the steps to delete your account and all of its information from Facebook. After you have deleted your account, it may take up to 90 days for all content and personal data that you have stored in backup systems controlled by us to be deleted. Additionally, some copies of public content and any above-mentioned backup data may remain visible even after deletion as a result of cached pages (or similar mechanisms). If you are concerned about someone whose profile has been removed accessing any remaining backup data or other material published during their time on Facebook, please feel free to contact [email protected] to request that we delete any remaining information from our backup systems.

If you created your account using a phone number, it may take up to 90 days for all data related to your account (including your friend list and information you’ve added) to be completely removed from Facebook servers and migrated to servers in Europe or Canada (or anywhere else we migrate data). If you want us to delete your phone number or other personal data before this happens, please contact [email protected] For more details about how long different types of information remain available on Facebook after deletion, please read the content below under “How do I permanently remove my name from my profile?” You can also request that we close your account early by following the instructions in “The name I use with my account isn’t mine anymore. How do I close my Facebook account?” below.

What happens to the things I posted on Facebook after deleting my account?

Some of your content may be deleted from Facebook immediately when you delete your account, but some kinds of information are stored separately and will remain until you permanently delete them or choose to close certain features associated with your profile (like games). For more details, please read the content below under “How do I permanently remove my name from my profile?” which explains what we do when an account is closed early, as well as how long different types of data remain available on Facebook after deletion. If you’re concerned about someone whose profile has been removed accessing any remaining backup data or other material published during their time on Facebook, please feel free to contact [email protected]

Please note that you may still see some of the information you post to Facebook via third-party services like Instagram and Twitter if those parties have not deleted the content, even after your account is closed or disabled, because it remains posted on their systems until they delete it. Additionally, we do not control any third-party applications that are authorized to access data within an account once it has been deleted (like chat logs between users). These applications will still be able to access such content unless and until they are authorized by the owner of the account to no longer have access.

How To Delete Your Facebook Account

I forgot my password. What should I do?

Having trouble logging into your account? If you forgot or don’t know what email address or password is associated with your Facebook account, visit the Forgot Your Password page to reset your password. You’ll be asked to provide your username and answer a few questions that only you should be able to answer. If we can’t verify that you’re the owner of the account, at least one of these questions will involve information only you would know about yourself (for example: “What was your first school?”).

I received an email saying someone else wants to connect with me on Facebook. Is this legitimate?

Sometimes people who have access to your contact info may send emails from addresses not associated with them in order to trick you into sharing personal information. They may claim to be someone they’re not, or pretend that something has happened (such as a lottery win) in order to get you to share your password, pin code, credit card number, bank account details, or similar personal information with them. Facebook will never send an email informing you that someone else wants to connect with you or ask for your password and pin code. If you receive such an email please forward it to [email protected] immediately so we can take appropriate action against the unauthorized use of our service.

For a long time, Facebook has been asking users to send them money in order to recover their accounts and get back the data stored on them (accounts). And that’s exactly why I decided to finally close my Facebook account: because they make you pay lots of money just so they can give you your own data that is in their servers.

In this article, we’re going to see how to permanently remove all our personal information from the Facebook database.

How do I permanently remove my name from my profile?

We’ve provided two ways for you to permanently leave or delete your account: one leaves some information behind; the other ensures that no traces of you remain.

Web Deletion: If you’re not able to use our mobile app or aren’t a Facebook developer, you can deactivate your account from the settings page. Simply select “Deactivate my account” and follow the instructions. When finished, your profile will be deactivated and all your information deleted except for some things we keep for 30 days (like messages you sent to friends). After this period of time, even those parts will be removed. This is the option that retains your data for the longest amount of time.

Mobile Device Deletion: If you are using one of our iOS apps or are a Facebook platform developer, please refer to our Help Center article on deleting your Facebook account from a mobile device. This will allow you to delete your account and all of its data. Note that this option only deletes the personal information associated with your account, not some things we need for our internal operations, such as event attendees or news feed items you posted.

Why do I need to provide a copy of my ID?

For security purposes and as part of the process required to ensure that no one other than you can access your account, we require either an electronic copy (a digital photo or scan) or physical scanner-friendly hardcopy (such as a photocopy) of an official government-issued identification document bearing your name and photograph – like a passport, driver’s license or national identity card.
