How to easily close your Comcast Xfinity account

Recently, Comcast has introduced a new service that will allow their customers to cancel the WiFi portion of their internet subscription. This change is in response to Netflix urging ISPs like Comcast and Verizon not to restrict access for streaming services or they would deploy more servers themselves. Now, with this option available from Xfinity, there’s no excuse for throttling your speeds!

After contacting customer care last week about cancelling my wifi subscription, I received a very courteous email telling me that the cancel button is now available at the bottom of their website.

Xfinity has made it easier to cancel your WiFi service!

This can be done by scrolling down until you find “Cancellation Request: Internet Wifi (XFINITY)”. You can cancel by clicking cancel or continue without cancelling if you want to keep it as an extra account holder. The next step was contacting customer care and speaking with them about this new change last week. According to one of their representatives, they’ve seen increased interest in doing so lately because Xfinity’s internet speeds are slower than before due to streaming services like Netflix urging ISPs (like Xfinity) to use their own bandwidth.

We reached out and asked if this cancel button was meant for customers who were unhappy with the change, but they didn’t give us a direct answer other than saying that it will cancel your internet service which is what we wanted anyway!
