While gambling is not a requirement, and pets will not be sent to the pound if unfed; there may be some games of chance based on games such as blackjack or lottery scratchcards. Users under 13 are prohibited from playing these types of games. Running relative clauses together can sometimes make for unclear sentences as well so it would also read: While gambling is not required, nor are pets sent to the pound if unfed, there may be some game that involves real-world games like blackjack or lottery scratch cards. After this incident, Neopets prohibited users under 13 from playing most games that involve gambling.
How to Play Neopets Games in 2021!
You have to be over the age of 13 in order to play Neopets. This is an important issue that we take very seriously, which is why there are various measures in place that help verify your age.
What do I do if I find a user that looks like they’re under 13?
Please don’t hesitate to contact us immediately. To report suspicious activity, please send an email to [email protected] with any information (screenshots are helpful) and we will assess your claim as soon as possible! We are currently working hard to process all abuse reports as fast as possible.
Please note that we cannot provide any information in regards to ongoing cases, and we will not respond to inquiries about previous investigations.
If you find a user who appears on the Neopets front page (such as at the top of Games or Pet Central), please click here which will report this account directly to us!
Please note that we cannot provide any information regarding ongoing cases, nor reply to inquiries about previous investigations. In such instances, it may take a while for us to process your request, but as soon as possible one of our representatives will contact you via email about the next steps.
Best Way To Play Neopets
EDIT 1: I have asked a few people from TNT on Twitter (I direct messaged them because it’s easier to avoid the bots and block list) for comment about this post and their banning policy, but at the moment haven’t received any response. I will keep trying!
EDIT 2: After some more research subsequent posts were put together by Yellybellybean (thank you!) which can be found here and here.
EDIT 3: Wow! Thanks for all the kind words, everyone. You’re awesome! Well, hopefully, we will get some statement from TNT eventually confirming what I suspect – that yes, 13-year-olds are being targeted. Best wishes to all you Under 13s out there!
EDIT 4: In response to a question on Twitter about this post, Ky said the following:-
EDIT 5: I have updated the article above with further information from Yellybellybean’s posts here and here.
EDIT 6: The bans continue as does the Neomail. Check out this one which was just sent in today by jjeanie3277 (thanks for sending it in!):
Hello, I am under 13 and have been playing the site since 1999. I remember making accounts when I was younger but they were deactivated and I had no clue until now… I recently made a new account to try to get more people for my side account and every time someone adds me or sends neo mail saying anything relating to joining a guild or becoming friends with another user, it gets deleted within hours. Is there any way you can stop that? It’s quite annoying because I’ve been getting friend requests for years without anyone knowing. This is just a bit too much lol.
EDIT 7: Another update by Yellybellybean here.
EDIT 8: In response to countless Neomails asking why they were banned, Bluebunny822 received the following response from an Appeal Officer:-
The answer to your question is a simple one. TNT chose not to reveal any information about their methods, so we won’t either. All I can say is that it isn’t always what it seems and you shouldn’t believe everything you hear or read. Sometimes there are perfectly legitimate reasons, but those don’t involve anyone being punished just because they’re under 13 years old.
EDIT 9: In response to this post on their Facebook page , Neopets posted the following (thanks Naturemagicdawn for sharing it with me!):-
“We do our best to keep Neopets a safe place for all of our users, and we never target anyone under the age of 13. We are aware of reports that a small number of users are being incorrectly targeted by our system, which unfortunately was designed to detect activity by those who may be younger than they claim. This means that if they’re getting error messages from this system to their account or via Neomail, it could lead them to believe they’ve been “banned”. Please keep in mind that there is no such thing as being banned on Neopets – you cannot be punished or lose your user account just because you’re under 13 years old. You can read more about this here, but please note that the information provided pertains to US law and may not apply in other countries. We value all of our users and have a strong commitment to providing them with the best possible experience on Neopets, so we appreciate your patience as we continue to work through these issues.”
EDIT 10: More information from Yellybellybean here. EDIT 11: Wow! Thanks for all the kind words, everyone. You’re awesome! I was asked by Ganz (via email), that if someone is under 13 and they click ‘I Agree’ when logging in to the site or playing a game – that they are still breaking the rules? My response:-
Yes, unfortunately, there are many times where children will lie about their age in order to play games rated for older audiences or participate on sites which they aren’t allowed to use. However, it’s important to understand that not everyone who is playing a game or using an account on the site for reasons other than what they’re intended for is lying about their age. For example, just because someone has claimed to be 15 years old when creating an account doesn’t mean they are actually doing so – there may have been a misunderstanding and they may think that in order to play games like Gormball, you need to be 15 years old. Likewise, if someone plays Neopets using their parents’ accounts, even though the parent of the account says that their child is under 13 – this isn’t grounds enough to assume all such cases must be one person with multiple accounts (e.g. an adult).
Thanks to another helpful user (Kaelia), I have been sent this! –
EARLIER EDIT 9 WAS WRONG; THE CORRECT INFORMATION CAN BE READ HERE. Please note that some of these points are not in English and the information may or may not be entirely accurate to the rules in your country etc. However, I believe this will answer most of your questions:-Hi there, just wondering if you could help me out? I am 13 years old and live in Ireland. A while ago, my account was frozen for no reason at all. After sending a few neo emails asking what had happened, it got unfrozen but now I can’t log on anymore.

If you are between the ages of 13 and 15 (!), you can still play Neopets with parental approval. You’ll need permission from your parents before filling out our player information/age verification form (see below). Once we receive your parent’s permission, you’re free to create an account and start playing! If you’re younger than 13, the answer is unfortunately no. Neopets requires that players be at least 13 years old in order to play here – or have parental approval to establish an account. We do our best to ensure that all of our users are above the legal playing age, in which case your parents can fill out this simple form to get you up and running: Parental Permission Form.
If you want to learn more about Neopets’ rules, please take a look at our Terms and Conditions. For further assistance, don’t hesitate to contact us! So there you are! The mystery is no longer mysterious, the reason why TNT refuses to add new users is that they are actively seeking out underage players so that they can ban them claiming they are under 13. This is how TPTB makes their money – by banning children from using an amazing site like Neopets (and also getting parents of such children to pay for moderation on the site). I truly despair for people who would resort to such methods in order to make a profit.
There are several easy ways to determine whether an account is owned by someone under the legal playing age:
As mentioned above, you have to be at least 13 years old to play Neopets. Once you turn 13, the word “teen” will appear next to your username wherever it appears on the site (such as in Games and Pet Central). We also display citizenship location information alongside every account name on the site, so users can quickly determine if someone is too young to play.
If you suspect that an account is owned by a kid, please take a close look at the username listed in the top left corner of the site. If it says something like “molly_girl83” or “megan_babe92”, then we’re guessing this isn’t someone who’s old enough to be playing Neopets.
