Outlook: This Item Cannot Be Displayed in the Reading Pane?

There are several reasons why the reading pane may not be showing in Outlook. One possibility is that it has been turned off. To check this, click on the View tab and make sure that the Reading Pane check box is selected.
Another possibility is that the reading pane has been moved to a different location. To check this, click on the View tab and click on Layout. Under the Show section, make sure that the Reading Pane button is clicked.

The Outlook preview pane can be fixed by following these steps:
Open Outlook.
Click on the View tab.
Click on the Layout button.
Click on the Preview Pane button.
Select either Vertical or Horizontal from the drop-down menu.

Outlook may not be displaying content because of a problem with your email account or with Outlook itself. To troubleshoot the problem, try the following:
Check that you are connected to the internet.
Verify that your email account settings are correct.
Reset your Outlook settings.
Repair your Outlook installation.
If you are using a POP3 email account, try using an IMAP account instead.

To change the preview settings in Outlook, go to File > Options > Advanced. Under “Reading,” you can choose how many lines of an email are previewed in the Reading Pane and how many are shown in the message list. You can also choose to show all messages in the Reading Pane or hide them.

If you are having trouble viewing an email in your reading pane, it may be because the email’s formatting is too complex. To fix this, try selecting the “Plain Text” option under “View” in your email client.

Outlook may not show all emails if they are in your spam or junk folders. To view all of your emails, open Outlook and click on the “Inbox” tab.
