What is a Flipboard account?

Answer

It can be useful to create a Flipboard account to save your own personalized set up across devices, platforms, and accounts. This is helpful if you share one device or use an app on different platforms (e.g., desktop vs mobile).

A Flipboard account is based on an email address and lets you share, like, comment and follow any public Flipboard content. You can see the most popular items from around the world or in your home country. To make it easy for people to follow you, we’ve added a sign-up option that will let you create a Flipboard account when you’re not logged into an existing Google Profile. This way no one needs to be signed in to use Flipboard. If you’ve already created a profile through Google+, then you are all set and ready to go!

If this is your first time using Flipboard Account please visit: https://flipboard.com/createaccount where registration has been explained in details else you can continue on this article.

Note: This process is for signing up a new Flipboard Account with Google+. If you already have an existing account, please login and skip to the next section.

How do I create my profile?

1) In the top right corner of any Flipboard page, click your icon or name, then select Sign Out . (Signing out clears all your search history and profile information from your account at once.) You’ll be asked if you want to delete your bookmark collection—if you use these regularly, we suggest keeping them. To keep them safe in case you accidentally sign out again later, drag each individual bookmak into Collections first (to create collections see “What are categories, collections and magazines?” in “Help Center”).

2) In the top right, click the Back arrow . (This will open a menu rather than taking you to your home page.)

3) At the bottom of this menu select your name. This will show all your personal information that is connected to Flipboard.

4) Click Create Account . A screen appears where you can add basic profile information, including a display name, email address and password. If you already have an existing account with Google+ please sign in using it before proceeding. Creating an account also automatically signs you up for updates from us through email—if you’d prefer not to receive them or want to make sure which emails are being sent to any other email address, see “How do I edit my email subscriptions?” in the Help Center.

5) Click Create Account to finish setting up your profile and flip!

Follow these easy steps to create an account:

Hint: use a Gmail address or connect a Flipboard account with one of your Gmail addresses. If you’re already signed up for Google+, just add another email address via the “Account” tab in settings. Now start flipping!

How do I edit my email subscriptions?

You can manage all your email subscriptions within Flipboard from your profile. In any list view (Cover Stories, Popular, Editors Picks), click on your name or icon at the top left corner of the screen (this will open a menu). Then select Account . You’ll see an Email Preferences section with options to receive certain types of updates: Content Updates about new content in your favorite sections; Editor’s Picks when we add new content to our Editor’s Picks section; Activity Updates when you have activity on your account (following, favoriting, liking); and Notifications about new features that are added. Click the checkboxes next to the items you want in your updates, or uncheck all boxes to stop receiving emails from Flipboard.

Note: New profile creation prompts a confirmation email prior to setting up your account. If this is not found in your inbox please look in “spam” or “promotions.” You can also resend the confirmation email at any time by going here: https://flipboard.com/account/resend_confirmation .

Be sure you’ve synced with Google+ before creating an account, otherwise you’ll get a ‘Service Unavailable’ error.
